50,000 hectares of organic agriculture
The Netherlands is one of the smallest and most densely populated countries in Western Europe. But still, Holland is one of the world's biggest exporters of agricultural produce.
Currently (2010) there are some 1400 certified organic farms in the Netherlands, covering over 50,000 hectares of land.

What makes the Netherlands special is that the organic farms work together intensively and share their techniques and experience, resulting in highly productive land.
The Dutch government actively promotes research and consumption of organic produce, aiming for 10% growth per year.
More than 50% of Dutch organic production is exported, and finds its way to super market shelves all over Europe and beyond.
