Genetically optimized through cross breeding

Growing organic potatoes is challenging, to say the least. Soil needs to be perfectly balanced to keep out pests without using chemicals. And the soil needs to produce plants with the power to withstand above ground attacks. 

The Netherlands is one of a handful of EU nations where even the use of organic propagation materials is mandatory for organic potatoes. Dutch research companies own test fields in the Netherlands and beyond where new potato breeds are developed and tested. The results are breeds which are genetically optimized by classical means, to product the best possible organic potatoes. And that of course includes their taste and different cooking properties, making Dutch organic potatoes the perfect staple for home use and further production of foodstuffs.
